Protection for Motorcycles

Make sure you have the right protection for yourself and your bike. We’ll help you find the right policy to fit your budget and keep you riding.

Our Boat Policies help cover your watercraft on and off the water. We cover all types of watercrafts from boats to jet skis, sailboats and more. Watercraft liability coverage is important when you’re on the water and helps pay for another person’s expenses if you injure them or damage their property with your watercraft.

Medical payments coverage helps pay for you or your guests medical bills if injured in a boating accident. Property coverage for your watercraft helps pay for the damage to your watercraft if you crash with another object or boat, as well as gives you protection against vandalism, theft, or fire.

Help protect your watercraft year-round against these covered perils. We offer coverage for your boat trailer, fishing equipment and even towing or fuel delivery when you’re stranded. Give us a call today and see how inexpensive it can be to give you peace of mind on and off the water!

Components of Motorcycle Insurance

When buying Auto Insurance, you have a lot of choices to make about the level of coverage and policy options. Our goal at Julie Hahn Agency is to help guide you through these decisions and help you get the coverage that fits your needs and budget. The following are the major components that make up your auto insurance:

Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability

Bodily Injury pays if you’re found at-fault in an accident, where it might be your responsibility to cover the medical bills for your passenger and/or the other driver. In a case like that, Bodily Injury Liability typically covers damages that result from the injury or death of another driver or a guest passenger on your motorcycle when you are found at-fault.

Property Damage pays if you’re found at-fault in an accident and cause damage to others’ property. Property Damage Liability Coverage typically covers damages resulting from the damage to another person’s property when you are at-fault. Property you may be liable for includes other vehicles, residences, storefronts, poles, trees, and other structures.

Collision

Collision coverage will typically cover damage to your motorcycle that results from a collision with another object (other than an animal), which could include another car or motorcycle, a tree, or a building.

Comprehensive

Comprehensive coverage for Motorcycles is similar to that with Auto Insurance. Some typically covered perils under Comprehensive are if it’s damaged by:

  • Storm/Wind
  • Flooding
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Hitting an animal
  • Some other event that doesn’t involve a crash with another vehicle (such as bike falling over)

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury

Like Auto Insurance, this coverage typically covers damages that result from the injury or death of you or a passenger on your motorcycle caused by an uninsured or underinsured driver. Depending on the coverage you choose, you can have both Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury and Uninsured Property Damage in NC. SC allows you to choose both Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury and Property Damage. This gives you additional protection for accidents where the other driver doesn’t have enough or any insurance at all.

Comprehensive Coverage

This coverage is also called “Other than Collision” because it includes many incidents and accidents other than a collision. This can include glass breakage, theft, vandalism, hail damage, something falling on your vehicle, hitting a deer/animal, storm/hurricane damage, and other covered losses that are sudden and accidental in nature with a specific date of loss. And just like Collision coverage, Comprehensive also carries a deductible, which is your out-of-pocket expense and can affect your premium. The same rule applies to Comprehensive as well, where a higher deductible = lower premium. An additional benefit we offer is to repair accidentally cracked/chipped windshields free of charge, where the chip/crack is no longer than 6 inches.

Other Auto Insurance Coverages

  • Towing and Labor – This coverage option reimburses you for the expense of roadside services, up to your limit (max of $100). This includes towing your vehicle, as well as other basic roadside services such as fuel delivery, changing a tire, lockout, etc.
  • Rental Car Reimbursement – This option is important if you would need a replacement vehicle after an accident, while your vehicle is undrivable and/or in the shop getting repairs, up to the time it is repaired and a max of 30 days.

Aspect of Auto Insurance

When buying Auto Insurance, you have a lot of choices to make about the level of coverage and policy options. Our goal at Julie Hahn Agency is to help guide you through these decisions and help you get the coverage that fits your needs and budget. The following are the major components that make up your auto insurance:

Liability Coverage (Bodily Injury and Property Damage)

Liability coverage is your lawsuit protection and offers peace-of-mind. If you are found at-fault in an accident that’s covered by your auto policy and other people and/or property are injured or damaged, liability coverage helps protect you and pay the cost of these damages. It’s important to carry at least as much liability coverage as you have in assets. The limits you choose are the

insurance company’s limits and if more is owed, you could be personally liable for the difference and is why it is so important to carry the right amount of coverage for your personal situation. You would be surprised how little it can be to go up to a higher amount of coverage.

As an Agency, we recommend a minimum of 100/300 coverage for Bodily Injury (BI) Liability. This means that with this coverage, your policy would pay up to $100k per person (1st number) or $300k for all parties (2nd number) involved for the following expenses:

  • Medical expenses for bodily injury, including emergency aid at the accident scene
  • Compensation for lost income and legal defense fees
  • Funeral expenses

As an agency, we also strongly recommend a minimum of 50-100k coverage for Property Damage Liability. This coverage helps pay for damage to another driver’s vehicle or property that occurs due to an accident where you are found at-fault and can include:

  • Vehicle repair or replacement
  • Damage to homes, stores or other structures damaged during the accident

Medical Payment Coverage

Medical payment coverage helps pay for medical expenses for accident-related injuries, whether or not you are at-fault in the accident. These expenses can include hospital stays, doctor visits, x-rays, surgery, ambulance, and funeral expenses. Medical payment coverage is provided for you, your passengers, and your family members, and is the only coverage that follows you, not the vehicle.

Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist Coverage

This coverage helps pay for medical expenses when the other driver has little-to-no insurance. If you are hit by a driver that is uninsured or underinsured and you or a passenger in your vehicle is injured, your policy provides protection for an amount up to the amount of liability protection you choose.

NC law only provides coverage for Uninsured Motorist Property Damage Coverage, which means that if someone hits your vehicle that has no insurance, your policy provides protection. However, you must prove that they did not have insurance coverage in order for this coverage to pay out.

SC law allows you to select one or both Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury (damage/injury to you) and Property Damage (damage to your vehicle)

Collision Coverage

Collision Coverage is physical damage coverage that protects your car if you’re in an accident where you collide with other cars or objects (structures, potholes, poles, fences, trees, etc.). Collision coverage helps pay for repairs to your vehicle up to the actual cash value of your car. Collision coverage allows you to choose a deductible, which would be the amount of out-of-pocket expenses you would be responsible for in a collision accident. It’s important to remember that the higher the deductible you carry, the lower your premium will be. However, keep in mind that a higher deductible will require you to pay more in the event of a loss. Our goal as an agency is to help you determine the best deductible option for your personal situation and goals.

  • Towing and Labor – This coverage option reimburses you for the expense of roadside services, up to your limit (max of $100). This includes towing your vehicle, as well as other basic roadside services such as fuel delivery, changing a tire, lockout, etc.
